Nessus vs OpenVas Scan Samples

Here are some sample reports showing Nessus and OpenVas. It is always good to compare results from different scanners and obviously with the history of Nessus and OpenVas it is interesting to note the differences. Nowadays I believe the plugin feeds from these two scanners are completely different, hence there is a significant difference in the results between the two.

My recommendation from various testing is that you always rely on multiple scanning solutions and never only rely on automated scanning. While it can give you a good feel for how secure your system is, automated scanners miss a lot and are prone to false positives.

The details of the report at first glance can be a bit scary at first glance for those with little Internet Security experience, however a bit of research with Google will allow you to quickly find answers to your questions. An awareness of the issues will give you more understanding of the processes and requirements for securing an Internet server.
